Services provided:

Head Start.

Head Start is a comprehensive child development preschool program, serving children between the ages of three and five with classrooms in various areas of the county.

Center sessions operate Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

The children are introduced to readiness skills, such as:

• Colors
• Nmbers
• Letters
• Shapes.

Children are given the opportunity to:

• Develop self-help skills
• Work and play in small and large groups
• Learn socialization skills
• Problem solving and enhancement of their language skills.

Parents are welcome and encouraged to be involved in all aspects of the program's operation.

Head Start provides

• Workshops
• Training
• Information of interest to families, such as:
• Parenting skills
• Child development
• Discipline problems and solutions
• Nutrition
• Single parenting
• CPR
• Literacy
• Job training
• Employment
• Affordable housing.

Up to 10% of the total number of children enrolled in Head Start can be over the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

The Head start Program enrolls children with disabilities.
